South Sarasota has the prime location when it comes to shopping and Siesta Key Beach which makes this one the most attractive and affordable areas in town. The affordable pristine community of Gulf Gate is located here and you have to agree, it is one of the nicer established Florida communities in the county. If you are looking something a bit more upscale then the gated west-of-trail homes of The Landings might be of interest. South Sarasota is the zip code 34231. It consists of the triangular area situated from Sarasota Bay on the west to Beneva Rd on the eastern border into the Vamo area at the Sarasota Square Mall on the south.
Much of the areas commercial area is located on Tamiami Trail where you can find shopping centers, professional offices and restaurants. This makes living in this area both convenient to shopping but less than 10 minutes from the #1 rated Siesta Key Beach. Some of the subdivisions to the west of trail include Coral Cove, The Landings, Pelican Cove, Oyster Bay, and Buccaneer Bay. Many of the homes, not in subdivisions in this are on or close to water access. East of 41 includes areas such as Gulf Gate and Baywood Colony.
