Condo on the Bay in Sarasota

Condo on the Bay has been one of Sarasota’s iconic downtown condominiums since construction completed in 1982.  Everyone recognizes the “two big blue buildings” driving from St. Armand’s Circle back into town across the John Ringling Bridge.  Often the two buildings are affectionately referred to as “888.”  There are actually three components that make up this 292 unit Bay front community. 888 (Tower I) and 988 (Tower II) Blvd of the Arts are nineteen story high-rise condominiums.   902 through 940 Blvd of the Arts are two and three level townhomes often referred to as the “marina suites” with dedicated deep water docks facing the harbor shared with the Hyatt. 

One of the main features of the condos is that all units have a full bay view.  All of the units face west and there are no city views here.  The only premium view is of the Gulf of Mexico available to the upper floor units.  All units are guaranteed a stunning a sunset view every evening of the year from the westward facing private balconies each unit enjoys. 

The majority of the residences are two-bedroom and two-baths with sizes starting at about 1,300 square feet.  The largest units can be found at the north and south ends of the buildings.  These units can be well over 5,000 square feet with four-bedrooms and four-baths.  Some of these units obtained this size by combining two units together.  Most owners have taken it upon themselves to upgrade and update over the past several years.  Expect to find granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, hardwood and ceramic tile floors, large master suites with double closets and large sitting tubs.  First floor units have ground level walkouts and top floor units have 10 foot ceilings.

Amenities include a recently updated lobby, covered secure parking with assigned spaces, a large heated pool, state of the art fitness facility, tennis courts, day dock, a large meeting room, game room, guest rooms, and social events are planned regularly.  The complex is gated and staffed with a fulltime guard and security.  Fees include building exterior maintenance, cable, escrow funds, a reserve fund, flood insurance, grounds maintenance, public insurance, and the roof.

Units can be rented in the 888 building once a year for at least four months. 988 can only be read and once per year on an annual lease.
