Sawgrass is a gated golf-course community located minutes away from the powder white beaches of Venice Florida in Sarasota County.  Residents love the natural preserves and lakes, as well as the lovely golf views, blending beautifully into the lush tropical setting.  If you are an avid golfer, reciprocity to Waterford and Capri Isles Golf Courses comes standard.  Social club membership comes with ownership. Use of the Ted McAnlis designed par 36 golf course is optional with a paid membership or just pay the green fee if your playing time is sporadic. 

Construction began in 1997 on the 568 lot site.  All homes are block and stucco construction with tile roofs.  Home sizes range from 1,900 to 3,400 square feet with at least a two-car garage.  The builders included Taylor Woodrow, J & J Builders and Waterford Builders.  New home construction slowed to a crawl in 2006 and it is just recently that Neal Communities began building new homes on 70 of the remaining 109 lots.  You can find maintenance-free villa or single family homes within the community.

Expect all homes to have some sort of lake, golf course, or preserve view.   From the moment you enter through the main gate, you notice all streets are lined with tall mature palm trees for the utmost in that tropical feeling.  The community has a wonderful state of the art fitness centre, a large club room for community activities, tennis courts and a 70’ community pool that over looks one of the many lakes.

Open floor plans, gracious and well planned kitchens and master suites are the norm here.  The contemporary Florida design of open lanais and high ceilings are found throughout.  Many homes feature solid surface counter and vanity tops, top of the line appliances, double sinks, large walk-in showers with a separate oversized garden or whirlpool tub, magnificent tiled floors, all topped off with rich crown mouldings.
