Sarasota - Dr. Lederman aka "Dr. Beach" named Siesta Key Beach the top ranked US beach. His criteria included the overall size of the beach, the "powdered sugar" texture of the sand, and the fact that Siesta Key Beach is one of the cleanest beaches thanks to the recent "No Smoking" ordinance.
Since receiving top ranking, the Sarasota Herald Tribune reports lodgings and bookings have skyrocketed. The Sarasota Surf and Recquet Club's 188 condominiums are booked for the next four weeks -- and this is in July, not January!
The welcome increase in business this year is coming not a moment too soon for some after the past few years of bad real estate deals and the Gulf oil spill. Web visits to the tourism bureau's website increased 47% compared to May 2010. The recent up tick in real estate activity in the area should help provide assurance to many of those new home owners and investors. Sarasota is special place and will continue to be a good move.
