Lakewood Ranch has abandoned it's effort to be the regions newest incorporated town, at least for the time being.  The current economic conditions and lack of excitement by area residents in a recent poll were enough to shelve the idea.  There just isn't the support for such a move.   Using "Lakewood Ranch, FL" as an address has been in use for years even without the official incorporation and a town.  For now, that may all anyone wants to pay for.

Lakewood Ranch is one of the few areas where new construction continues.  There are miles of walking trails, impeccably maintained and landscaped parks, community centers with pools and fitness centers and events regularly planned throughout.  There is a lifestyle here that attracts folks from across the country.  Locals can be found at Lakewood Ranch's "Music on Main" the first Friday of every month from 6-9.

Lakewood Ranch remains one of the many area examples of the economic resilience of both the Sarasota Real Estate Market as well as the Manatee County Real Estate Market.  The continued success of "The Ranch" over the past several challenging years shows the current management is doing something right.  Why mess with it if it's not broke?
